Can nursery schools maintain health and fitness for kids?

Posted on 2017-10-17 by Martha Otterson

Is it possible to get a nursery school where your kids have a chance to be fit and healthy while learning and growing at the same time? Of course yes! It is very much possible. In fact, many parents prefer taking their kids to schools where their kids can be groomed not only to be better adults, but healthy and productive kids in the future. If you are a teacher aiming to provide a healthy environment for your kids both mentally and physically, then you are on the right track to helping parents grow happy and healthy kids. However, the question is, can nursery schools maintain health and fitness for kids? Why are we asking? Because, it is always possible to start; but, can teachers keep up? Here are helpful tips.

Create appropriate fitness classes

gfdgdfgdfgdfggAll kids are different. In fact, all kids have different abilities and should all be given a chance to choose what they want especially when it comes to choosing the type of exercise or activity to engage in. As teachers, giving kids the freedom to walk in whatever room they feel comfortable in, help kids get the most out of every minute spent in that particular fitness class. So, let the kids decide instead of forcing them to do things they do not feel like doing. Not providing a ‘variety’ is what makes teachers fail in providing a healthy and fit environment for kids.

Make sure kids maintain a regular exercise routine

Many teachers fail to understand that all kids thrive in a better environment. In fact, many kids grow better under scheduled and well-observed rules and regulations. If kids are supposed to exercise on a daily basis be it running, playing soccer, doing yoga or practicing other co-curricular activities that guarantee their health and fitness, they should be aware of the start and end time.

This eases interference of school work and playtime and should be done under the supervision of teachers to avoid injuries. A regular exercise routine will keep the kids alert, active and smart both academically and mentally in solving life problems helping them cope with life issues if they arise.

Offer incentives

However, our nursery school kids have no idea, and some may find participating in games and other activities a waste of time. So, motivation works best in keeping kids thrive to be better, smarter and more engaged in a particular activity.

In fact, kids would want to participate in an activity simply because they are likely to get something out of it. In their young minds, they have their own goals like getting a present, but in our minds, we see a healthy, fit kid growing up. So, offer gifts and other incentives to help these kids stay motivated.

Final word

Maintaining health and fitness in nursery schools is possible. It all depends on the teachers and parents. Parents at home should insist on the benefits of exercise at a young age while teachers should play a role in making sure that the necessary strategies are set up in the schools to avoid fall out. Proper coordination of parents and teachers, good and able infrastructure will all help integrate exercise routines that will benefit the kids both mentally and physically thus improving their general health.
